Sounds great, but I was just wondering....***

 What does hypnosis feel like?  Most people, over time and with practice, experience a very distinct, pleasant sensation--as if they were  floating in midair. Their mind is crystal clear while at the same time, they are oblivious of their body. Many people experience this enjoyable state the very first time they listen to the CD.

I can't be hypnotized, so why bother?  It's very difficult for anyone to say just how deep they might have gone in hypnosis. I have had patients tell me they were not hypnotized and yet, are shocked when I ask them how come they are unaware that their left arm is lifted above their head!

Another misconception: people expect that they won't remember "when the were under" and therefore, if they remember, "they were not under." People generally remember what was happening during hypnosis unless the hypnotist gives a suggestion for forgetting and they accept the suggestion.

The trait that corresponds best with how deep a person will go is "absorbability." If you get deeply absorbed in a movie or TV or book and are oblivious to everything else, you probably are a good candidate.

In addition, everyone enters a hypnotic state at least twice a day: just as they drift off to sleep, and as they awaken. These two naturally occurring hypnotic states are so well known in medicine that have been given scientific names: the hypnagogic and hypnapompic state. 

Thomas Edison was fully aware of the creative potential of self hypnosis. This ingenious man, credited with over 1000 inventions (electric light, phonograph), would take a nap in an overstuffed chair whenever he was stumped by a problem. He would hold ball bearings in one hand over a pie tin. Just before he would drop off to sleep, the ball bearings would fall onto and bang the pie tin, waking him up, often times with the solution right on the "tip of his mind."

Yes, but don't some people go real deep and others hardly at all?  Correct. Approximately  30% of the population can be considered highly hypnotizable and can go very deep, very quickly; another 30% moderately hypnotizable, and 40% low hypnotizable.  It is well known that individuals cannot predict which category they fall in to. Some of the most skeptical persons are the most surprised when I say the number "nine" and they have the irresistible urge to take off their watch! (not included on the CD!). 

The good news is: the work of very knowledgeable hypnotists such as the revered Milton Erickson, MD and  David Cheek, MD suggest that  you don't have to go "extremely deep" to benefit from hypnosis. Also, even if you seem to be entirely awake or know for sure that you were "sawing wood," your unconscious mind absorbs the affirmations on the CD. These affirmations relate to improved well being, improved health as well as statements specifically targeted to either smoking cessation ("you will derive comfort from handling the cinnamon stick") or avoidance of fatty foods and the need for proper exercise, reinforced with the posthypnotic suggestions for the color red and green, and a third suggestion that you will enjoy. .

What are the secrets and how are they important?  If I answered that, they would not be secret! For the most part, the secrets relate to developing an inner strength and determination  by learning self hypnosis. The secrets also allow you to achieve certain specific individual insights or understandings which lead to personal empowerment.  I call these "Ahh Hah" moments. These  CD's are designed to recruit unconscious abilities that bubble up "Ahh Hah" moments. I have seen such insight translate into dramatic breakthroughs, especially when people are "stuck."
